First Aid21st January 2016

Numerous cadets from 230 (Congleton) Squadron Air Training Corps recently qualified in basic first aid and are now adept at dealing with a variety of medical emergencies.

Nine of our newer members completed their Heart Start course recently,  giving them the confidence and ability to deal with imminently life threatening emergencies,  such as cardiac arrest, heart attack and choking,  earning a certificate from the British Heart Foundation.

In addition to this basic skill,  all cadets must then complete their red first aid badge,  and subsequent green badge, giving them advanced skills in more complex and diverse medical scenarios.  Twelve of the longer serving cadets,  also completed their red badge recently,  having to comprehensively understand and treat numerous first aid situations.

Next month,  a large number of red badge holders progress onto completing their green badge,  encompassing advanced training and building on their existing knowledge.
